The incident occurred on 17 March, at approximately 5:20 p.m., on the road from Szklarska Poręba towards Świeradów-Zdrój, near the so-called Death Turn. Jelenia Góra police:
Preliminary findings indicate that the 31-year-old driver of the Audi most likely lost control of the vehicle because he was driving too fast for the road conditions. As a result, the car skidded and collided with an oncoming Mercedes.
The Audi driver died in hospital as a result of his injuries. Police and the prosecutor’s office are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
Officers:
We appeal for particular caution on the roads! Deteriorating weather conditions and changing road surfaces may pose a threat to road safety. Let us remember to adjust our speed to the weather conditions, especially on bends and in places with limited visibility. Let us be responsible for ourselves and other road users.
Remember that every kilometre travelled at a speed suited to the conditions increases the chances of reaching your destination safely.
