Since the 1990s, railway line no. 283 Zebrzydowa–Żagań has declined in importance. Passenger services were gradually withdrawn from successive sections of the former interregional route, while the track on the section located in Lubusz Voivodeship was dismantled. Recent years have nevertheless brought a major breakthrough: the growing logistical needs of the military led to the decision to renovate and rebuild the dismantled track between Zebrzydowa and Żagań.
The website adds: – Advanced construction work is underway, which will restore freight traffic and possibly passenger services.
