Recently, a 40-year-old resident of Lwówek County fell victim to fraud, losing more than PLN 19,000. – The man wanted to invest in bitcoins, but when he tried to withdraw the allegedly earned bonus, he lost all the funds he had invested – explains junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Lwówek Śląski.
According to the victim, he was contacted by a person claiming to be an investment advisor. The person convinced him that investing in bitcoins could bring substantial profits.
Spokeswoman: – The man trusted the assurances and transferred the money to the indicated account. After some time, a bonus appeared in his investment account, prompting him to try to withdraw the funds. At that point, the fraudsters demanded additional fees, and when the man complied with their demands, contact with them was cut off and the money disappeared.
Police remind everyone to exercise caution when investing in cryptocurrencies and other suspiciously attractive financial offers:
Do not transfer money to strangers or install software that gives purported advisors access to your computer or bank account. If you suspect that you have fallen victim to fraud, report the matter to the Police as soon as possible.
