Officers from the Lower Silesian Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław, while patrolling the A4 motorway toward Zgorzelec, noticed a passenger Škoda at the 80th kilometer whose driver was traveling at 214 km/h. This was in a place where the speed limit was 110 km/h.

– The officers acted quickly and decisively, but as safely as possible, to stop the irresponsible road user – says Senior Warrant Officer Łukasz Dutkowiak, press spokesperson for the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The 22-year-old Slovak should not have been traveling faster than 110 km/h in that location.

He added: – The matter ended with a fine of 2,500 zlotys and 15 penalty points, which were recorded on the irresponsible driver's individual account.

The officers sum up:

With the safety of all road users in mind, Lower Silesian police once again remind drivers that excessive speed remains one of the main causes of road incidents with tragic consequences. There is no and will be no leniency for drivers who fail to observe speed limits—especially in built-up areas.

The amendment to the regulations in 2022, which increased penalties for perpetrators of various types of road offenses, had one goal—to improve safety on the roads of cities and counties. However, common sense and caution are the fundamental qualities of a safe journey, and no one should forget this. It is better to arrive at your destination 10 or 20 minutes later, but safely.
