The issue of the hideous shack erected in front of the railway station in Bolesławiec was raised during the February session of the City Council by Mirosław Sakowski, a Civic Platform councillor. “I would like to stress that throughout the entire previous term, President Piotr Roman and we fought for the renovation of this station. It was supposed to be a showcase for our city. At this point, the square in front of the building has been fenced off with unsightly tape, and an even uglier and shabbier shack is being put in the middle,” he said.

Deputy Mayor Kornel Filipowicz informed everyone present in the Council Chamber that the city authorities had notified the provincial building supervision inspector about “an action bearing the characteristics of unauthorised construction” and that this move “should lead to resolving the problem.”

As it turned out, PKP reached similar conclusions. “We ordered the tenant of the site to remove this hideous kiosk,” says Bartłomiej Sarna, press spokesperson for PKP SA in Wrocław. “We decided that we could not allow something like this to stand in front of a recently renovated station.”

The structure is to disappear soon.
