On February 28, at the 156th kilometre of the A4 motorway, road transport inspectors from Wrocław stopped for inspection an articulated vehicle belonging to a domestic entrepreneur, which was carrying 10 tons of waste from the Opole region.

Inspectorate:

An inspection of the tractor unit’s technical condition, carried out on a mobile diagnostic line, revealed a series of defects, including an excessive difference in braking forces on the wheels of one axle, exceeding 40%; serious defects in the vehicle’s suspension; the windscreen in a terrible condition; serious lighting defects; leaks of operating fluids; and numerous defects in the vehicle’s equipment—the mechanism for opening the driver’s side window had been made functional with a piece of stick.

The semi-trailer’s technical condition also left much to be desired. During the inspection, the inspectors found a crack in the vehicle’s frame, dangerous defects in the braking system on all three axles, air leaks from the pneumatic system, insecure attachment of the device designed to prevent another vehicle from driving underneath the semi-trailer from behind, as well as a series of lighting and vehicle-marking defects.

The inspection also established that the semi-trailer did not have a valid technical inspection.

The result? Inspectorate: – As a consequence of the inspection, a ban on further driving was issued until the dangerous defects were removed, and the registration certificates of both vehicles were retained. The driver was issued a series of fines.

And it concludes:

Administrative proceedings have been initiated against the entrepreneur, potentially resulting in a financial penalty for carrying out road transport with a vehicle lacking a valid technical inspection and having defects classified as dangerous.
