Two teams of police officers from the Prevention Department intervened at the Lubin railway station after the crew of one of the passenger trains reported to the emergency number that a drunk passenger was threatening to blow up the train and kill all the passengers.
At the scene, the officers established that the Wrocław resident, travelling from Głogów to his place of residence, had been asked by the conductors not to consume alcohol inside the train. – This fact greatly angered the hot-tempered 57-year-old. The man became aggressive towards the staff, addressed them vulgarly and shouted that he would kill everyone and blow up the train – reports asp. szt. Krzysztof Pawlik, deputy press officer of KPP Lubin. – The frightened people began calling for help.
He adds: – The sight of the Lubin police officers intervening did not calm the aggressor down. While intoxicated, the man insulted the officers and attacked a female police officer, kicking her. The aggressor was quickly subdued and handcuffed, and then transported straight to a police cell.
The suspect now faces up to three years in prison, as well as substantial fines, with an obligation to pay compensation and apologize to the injured parties. The spokesperson says: – Additionally, the person may be held financially liable by the carrier for the passenger train’s downtime exceeding the scheduled duration.
