Last Monday, before noon, the duty officer received a report of a road incident in Bartoszów. – Witnesses reported that the Opel driver hit the wall of a building, after which both he and the female passenger fled – reports Junior Warrant Officer Anna Tersa of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.

Traffic officers went to the scene and, through conversations with witnesses, established descriptions of the suspected individuals. The fleeing pair was quickly detained.

Spokesperson: – Traces of oil were found on their clothing and inside the vehicle, clearly indicating that they had been involved in the incident. The 41-year-old man and the 24-year-old woman from Złotoryja County were intoxicated. The woman had half a per mille of alcohol in her breath, while the man had more than one per mille.

What is more, both have court-ordered driving bans, while the man has two lifetime bans and a decision revoking his driving privileges.

Both were detained because initially the 41-year-old denied driving the vehicle; he claimed that his wife had been driving. Nevertheless, during the proceedings it was conclusively established that he had been behind the wheel. He has already been charged and placed under police supervision. He faces up to five years in prison.
