On Monday, officers received information that a man wearing shorts was staying at a bus stop, despite the sub-zero temperature. The police officer no longer found the eccentrically dressed young man at the aforementioned location, but decided to check the surrounding area.
– During a patrol on an unpaved road between Lubień and Legnickie Pole, the officer noticed a person matching the description. Concerned for the young man’s health, he immediately went over to him – explains junior aspirant Anna Tersa of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. – When asked about the shorts, the young man replied that he was warm and that it was his decision what he would wear.
During the conversation, the 19-year-old behaved nervously and kept reaching into his pockets. The spokeswoman said: – “Due to a reasonable suspicion that he might possess legally prohibited items, a search was carried out.”
As it turned out, the detained man had a plastic bag in the right pocket of his sweatshirt containing several smaller bags with dried plant material and one with a crystallized substance. Tests confirmed that the dried material was marijuana. The other substance is still being examined.
The 19-year-old was taken into police custody. He was charged with possessing drugs and preparing them for distribution. He faces up to three years in prison.
