– We like challenges – says Ewa Rendecka-Woch from the Investment and Public Procurement Department of the Bolesławiec District Office. – We have great respect for what is valuable and historic, but we also do not want the Old Theatre to lack a breath of modernity.
– Although the premiere is still a long way off, today I can proudly say that we have managed to save the theatre. The first stage of the renovation has been successfully completed. The final, very time-consuming stage is now underway – a comprehensive renovation of the building’s interior. The total value of all the work is over PLN 7 million – emphasises Dariusz Kwaśniewski, a member of the Bolesławiec District Board.
– The investment is proceeding according to plan. This year, we will spend over PLN 3.6 million on renovating the Old Theatre. Everything indicates that the renovation will be completed in November this year, as planned – says District Governor Cezary Przybylski.
Talks are underway with theatres from Jelenia Góra and Legnica. The opening of the venue is to be marked by an exceptional performance. It will become even more interesting afterwards. As part of the “District Invites” series, at least once a month residents of Bolesławiec will be able to see performances by acclaimed directors. What is more, students of the Stanisław Wyspiański Youth Cultural Centre will develop their passions at the Old Theatre. – Thanks to initiatives such as Treasure Island and theatre workshops, in the future we will have both excellent actors and audiences for the broadly understood art of theatre – says Marek Łętowski, head of the Youth Cultural Centre.
