Officers of the Customs and Tax Service of the Lower Silesian KAS and the Border Guard inspected two vans on the A4 motorway. – The services discovered 108 compressed bales of tobacco without Polish excise stamps, weighing more than 3 tons – reports Agnieszka Rzeźnicka-Gniadek, KAS spokesperson.

She adds:

Had the illegal tobacco products reached the market, the State Treasury’s losses would have exceeded PLN 2 million.

The drivers did not admit to possessing the illegal goods and refused to provide explanations.

The detained men face a fine, up to 3 years’ imprisonment, or both penalties for attempting to introduce illegal excise goods into circulation in Poland. The proceedings are being conducted by the Border Guard under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Legnica.
