The incident occurred on 16 January. – Officers from the Legnica road traffic unit received information about the citizen’s apprehension of an intoxicated driver on national road DK-94 in the village of Lipce – explains Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica. – As officers established, while driving a VW, the man noticed that the car was moving from one edge of the road to the other. Suspecting that the driver might be intoxicated, the men decided to stop the car and prevent the irresponsible driver from continuing to drive.
She adds: – The witnesses managed to stop the driver before the exit onto the S-3 expressway. The men approached him, pulled the keys from the ignition through the open window and called the emergency number.
The officers tested the 24-year-old with a breathalyser, which showed 3 per mille of alcohol in his exhaled air. The man’s driving licence was confiscated, and the vehicle was removed with roadside assistance.

Once again, the proper conduct of other drivers helped prevent a drunk driver from continuing to drive and perhaps avert another road tragedy.
