The incident took place on Epiphany. Wałbrzych police received a report that a 54-year-old resident of the city had been attacked during a walk with his dog by another man using an entrenching tool. – The victim ultimately managed to escape, but was taken to hospital with serious facial injuries – reports asp. szt. Monika Kaleta from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.
She adds: – The extensive search operation carried out by police officers – supported by Fire Service personnel with a thermal-imaging camera – led to the arrest of the 45-year-old suspect just a few hours later.
The man had been hiding in the forest. Police secured the entrenching tool mentioned above. They also established that at the time of the incident, the perpetrator had threatened the victim with death.
Spokesperson:
The 45-year-old will now face charges of attempted murder, which ultimately resulted in impairment of bodily functions lasting more than seven days, an offense punishable by imprisonment for no less than 10 years.
At the request of the police and prosecutor’s office, the court remanded the aggressor in custody for three months.
