The incident occurred on January 8, in the evening hours. Firefighters from Różyniec were dispatched at 7:08 p.m. to a fire in an abandoned building near Szczytnica:
(…) upon arriving at the scene, we found rubbish burning in front of the abandoned building.
They added:
Our actions involved directing one stream of water, securing the scene and searching the abandoned building.
The danger was eliminated; fortunately, no one was hurt. Firefighters from Bolesławiec, Tomaszów Bolesławiecki and Różyniec took part in the operation, as did two police patrols.
The latter are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
