A reader informed us about the “dramatic change to the Sunday timetable in Bolesławiec”:
I have never seen such a bad timetable!
And listed the details: “Under the previous timetable, routes 0, 1, 3 and 4 operated on Sundays, and the same is currently true, except that routes 0, 1 and 3 operated hourly, while route 4 operated five times a day; now route 0 operates five times a day, route 1 only three times a day, and route 3 operates 7–8 times a day. Additionally, route 4 also has three services a day.”
They also added: – It should also be remembered that the timetable for route 7 on Saturdays has been changed; from the Konradowska terminus, it now operates only until 1 p.m., whereas previously services ran until after 6 p.m.
They also added:
Please address this issue, because it will not be possible to travel around the city normally on such days and most housing estates in Bolesławiec will be cut off from an alternative means of transport.
We asked the Bolesławiec-based MZK company about the matter. President Andrzej Jagiera:
(...) the changes to the timetable resulted from the need to introduce adjustments to the operation of free public transport and to adapt the timetable to the Company’s financial capabilities.
Changes to the timetable can be introduced once financial resources have been secured to cover the additional costs.
And stressed:
Most housing estates in Bolesławiec are not cut off from alternative means of transport at weekends. Under the currently applicable timetable, the number of services has been reduced compared with the previously applicable timetable.I would also like to mention that the timetable changes were introduced on non-working days, i.e. Saturday and Sunday, and therefore on days that do not generate as many journeys: schools, workplaces, medical clinics, etc.
And addressed the issue of departures from the Konradowska terminus:
Departures from the Konradowska terminus on Saturdays also take place after 1 p.m. Attached are the departures from the Konradowska stop according to the new timetable.
They also concluded: – MZK buses currently carry approximately 3.4 million passengers. In the near future, comprehensive passenger-flow studies will be carried out throughout the city. Once the studies have been completed, the timetable will be optimised, taking new housing estates into account.
