The day before yesterday, the Bóbr River level in Dąbrowa Bolesławiecka exceeded the alarm level by more than two metres. According to residents of Krępnica, the water reached as far as the flood embankments. Fields and areas adjoining buildings were flooded. "This is not a flood like the one in 1997," says one resident of Krępnica village. "Back then, it was almost enough for the water to start spilling over the embankments. Now it barely reached them," adds a resident of a house next to the flood embankment.
The embankments protecting the buildings in the village were built by the Germans. To this day, they effectively protect people and buildings. "Those who live here are not afraid of the water," our interlocutor jokes.
From Sunday to Monday afternoon, the Bóbr River level fell from 220 to 170 cm above the alarm level. Over the following days, the water should continue to recede.
Regional information
The level of the Kwisa River in Nowogrodziec is falling. On Monday, it was recorded at 34 cm above the alarm level. Flood alerts remain in force in Lwówek Śląski and Wleń.
The Voivodeship Crisis Management Centre reports that the situation on the rivers is stable for now. The retention reservoirs have significant reserve capacity and are continuously taking in water from the melting snow cover.
