The incident occurred after midnight, during the night of December 31 to January 1. As Złotoryja officers report:
(...) the duty officer at the Command Post of the County Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Złotoryja received a report about a passenger car on fire in Wilków–Osiedle. He dispatched two crews from the Złotoryja Rescue and Firefighting Unit and the Police to the incident.
They also add:
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters found the vehicle completely engulfed in flames. Their actions consisted of securing the scene and extinguishing the burning car.
Police are determining the causes and circumstances of the incident.
