Christmas Eve morning began badly for two road users in Lubin. On Piłsudskiego Street, a 31-year-old woman from Lubin was hit as she crossed at a pedestrian crossing on a green light. The entire situation looked quite serious.

A 75-year-old driver of a passenger Volkswagen was leaving Żurawia Street and turning onto Piłsudskiego Street. After the light turned green, the man turned right. Unfortunately, he did not notice that the green light also allowed pedestrians to cross at the pedestrian crossing. At that time, a young woman was crossing the road, hurrying towards Przylesie. When she reached the centre of the roadway, she was hit by the car.

The impact was so strong that the woman rolled over the vehicle’s bonnet and fell onto the road. Fortunately, the car had not had time to accelerate, and despite the collision’s alarming appearance, it ultimately resulted only in bruises. The injured woman nevertheless underwent comprehensive examinations to rule out more serious injuries.

We remind you that for a similar offence, a driver may be issued a PLN 2,500 fine.

We appeal to drivers to ease off the accelerator and observe their surroundings! There is no need to rush during the holidays. We advise pedestrians to exercise caution and make sure before entering a pedestrian crossing that the road is truly safe. Let us show consideration for one another on the road so that everyone can reach their destination safely this holiday season.
