Police officers from the Criminal Division of the District Police Headquarters in Zgorzelec, as a result of operational work focused on combating property crime, arrested two men suspected of stealing parking meters. The incidents took place on December 20 and 22 of this year, when the perpetrators stole parking meters in Zgorzelec, tearing them out in their entirety. They then drove to a secluded location, where they forced open the money drawers. One machine contained more than PLN 1,700, while the other contained just PLN 6.
Based on the evidence gathered, the 32- and 41-year-old residents of Zgorzelec County were charged under Article 279 of the Criminal Code, to which they pleaded guilty. The perpetrators face up to 10 years in prison for these offenses. It should be emphasized that burglary is always a crime. Therefore, the value of the stolen items is irrelevant.
