A police officer from the Bolesławiec traffic police, travelling on roads in Bolesławiec County during his free time, noticed a farm tractor being driven by a man known to him from previous interventions. – The officer knew that the 42-year-old was committing a crime by driving the vehicle because he was subject to a court-imposed lifetime driving ban – explains Asp. Staff Monika Kaleta from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

She adds:

Both situations were very similar. Using his horn, the police officer brought the tractor driver to a stop in a safe place. Seeing that the vehicle was turning onto private property, he took action to prevent the driver, from whom the smell of alcohol was noticeable, from continuing to drive.

After getting out of the vehicle, the 42-year-old tried to leave, but the officer detained him and handed him over to police officers on duty. Neither the tractor nor the trailer had registration plates.

The spokesperson:

A breathalyser test showed more than 2 per mille of alcohol in the driver's system. Blood was also taken to determine what other substances the detainee might have been under the influence of.

The suspect now faces up to 5 years in prison.
