Piotr Roman behaved inelegantly during the session toward Civic Coalition councillor Grzegorz Przybylski. He treated the councillor’s question about increasing the number of exits from the Kwiatowe housing estate onto the national road dismissively. He talked down to the councillor and belittled the importance of the discussion that the councillor was trying to initiate on an issue important to residents

– Do you live there? – said Piotr Roman to Przybylski when he disagreed with the mayor’s explanations.

Piotr Roman was immediately supported in his dispute with the councillor by the chairman of the City Council.

– If you will allow me, a general observation – said Łukasz Jaźwiec. – This is why we have committees: to develop such solutions in committee meetings. As a rule, a session is for approving and adopting resolutions. This is not the time to discuss this – the council chairman added.

Civic Coalition councillor Katarzyna Rola disagreed with Łukasz Jaźwiec.

– Mr Chairman, I believe that, generally speaking, a session is for expressing one’s views – said Katarzyna Rola. – There is an agenda item that you open, namely participation in the discussion. I believe there is a right to ask about various matters, since committee meetings are not recorded, and voters and residents may also want to receive an answer to a troubling question. And we also have democracy, so we are the opposition and can ask questions as well – the councillor added.

– I agree with you, but please note what happened. The councillor made a categorical request to expand this plan. He said that he was proposing that it be expanded. Then, a moment later, he stated that he did not know that the plan could not be expanded – said Łukasz Jaźwiec.

Piotr Roman joined the discussion, after which the council chairman attacked another councillor who, in his view, had made a remark about him off microphone.

– Councillor, when you speak, please look me in the eye. It would be more pleasant if you did not talk about me under your breath, but told me directly – Łukasz Jaźwiec attacked Civic Coalition councillor Urszula Magryś..

– Please do not lecture me – Urszula Magryś defended herself.

– I am not lecturing you. Please say it openly, rather than with your head bowed – the council chairman continued.

– You have good hearing – the councillor replied, and that brought the verbal clash to an end.
