The Lubań traffic police stopped an Audi A3 for inspection at around 5:30 a.m. – The first moments of the inspection already indicated that the driver was under the influence of alcohol – reports Senior Constable Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The officers’ suspicions were quickly confirmed. A breathalyser test showed that the 49-year-old had more than 1.4 per mille of alcohol in his system. However, this was not the end of his problems.
When the Ukrainian national was told that he would be arrested and taken to a police cell, he decided to offer the officers a financial benefit in the form of 100 euros in exchange for abandoning their official duties.
The result? The spokesperson said: – The 49-year-old was taken to the District Police Headquarters in Lubań and, after sobering up, to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań. On the basis of the evidence collected, the prosecutor charged the suspect with driving a vehicle while intoxicated and offering a financial benefit to police officers.
The foreign national was placed under police supervision and banned from leaving the country. He faces up to eight years in prison.
