Joanna Świder spoke at the council session on 30 October 2024.
– Ladies and gentlemen, I found out that “Cooperation and Experience” is your official profile – Joanna Świder addressed the councillors in harsh words. – Ladies and gentlemen, 16 hours ago you posted this. I will read it so that residents know about it. “Tomorrow is the tax session. Joanna Świder, the mayor, has once again lied to her residents in order to seize power at any cost; she knew no bounds.” Well, I simply congratulate you, and you come to a tax session with something like this, as you call it? – the mayor added.
Joanna Świder then addressed one of the councillors.
– I would like to ask some of you how many seconds you have cooperated with me since I took office? – Świder asked the councillors. – Mr Grzegorz Mierzwa, I know that you demonstrated extraordinary activity by going around and frightening residents that Świder had lost eight million on the revitalisation of the square. Why are you not so active now? These people came to me frightened. How much time did you spend undoing this manipulation? I ask you for support and understanding. As mayor, I act exclusively in the interests of residents, ensuring transparency in all the actions I take in accordance with the law currently in force – Joanna Świder added.
The mayor also complained that the office was paralysed by constant requests for access to public information. She said these requests were not intended to obtain information, but to obstruct the office.
– Questions about registers, the deputy’s phone records, and details of incoming and outgoing mail. Actions which, instead of building trust, give the impression that there is some grey area in the office, or a shadow cabinet. Defiant patriots, as defiant as they seem anonymous and cowardly to me. Defiant patriots, sign your names. And here is the best part. My favourite Marcus Aurelius, the Roman emperor—I thought he was dead, but he is sending us emails requesting access to public information. When an official is collecting data, they are not working for residents. We will show everything, because I have nothing to hide, but let us work – Joanna Świder added.
