At the end of September, we reported that the opening of the passport office in Bolesławiec was planned for the turn of October and November. A few days ago, we asked Bartosz Wojciechowski, press spokesperson for the Lower Silesian Voivode, whether this deadline could be met. This is what he replied to us today:
On 23 October 2024, a meeting concerning the Local Passport Office in Bolesławiec was held at the Bolesławiec City Hall. Representatives of the Lower Silesian Voivode and the City Secretary attended the meeting. Current matters related to the office’s operation were discussed, and an inspection of the office was carried out, including an assessment of the premises and service desks.
Arrangements are currently under way regarding the exact date of the office’s opening. Its opening is planned for the last week of November or the first week of December.
What is the reason for the latest delay?
The spokesperson explains:
The employees hired at the Local Passport Office in Bolesławiec are currently taking part intensively in training at the headquarters of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office—its Jelenia Góra Delegation. This is a necessary process to ensure the proper handling of passport matters. Given the specific nature and multi-stage character of the tasks involved in citizens’ applications for passport documents, the above training requirements must be fulfilled.
And he adds: “It should also be noted that the opening date was also affected by the hydrological situation, as combating the flooding was a priority.”
