As reported by the Dolnośląski Urząd Wojewódzki:

Controls at the Polish-German border, including the section in Lower Silesia, will remain in place for longer.

From 5 April 2026, a regulation of the Minister of the Interior and Administration will come into force, extending temporary controls at the borders with Germany and Lithuania for another six months—until 1 October 2026.

The office says: “This decision results from the ongoing threat of illegal migration. The controls are carried out by the Border Guard, with the support of the Police and Territorial Defence Forces soldiers.”

In Lower Silesia, the measures cover 12 border crossings. DUW:

In practice, this means random checks of vehicles and people crossing the border.
