Police officers from the Economic Crime Unit of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters, as a result of operational activities, caught a local woman red-handed. For several weeks, she had been filling prescriptions for psychotropic medicines at local pharmacies; the prescriptions had been issued in other people’s names.

– The information gathered allowed us to establish how the prescriptions were obtained – explains Senior Sergeant Łukasz Porębski from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters. Using telecommunications networks, the woman misled various doctors about the identity of the patient requesting a prescription, thereby extorting e-prescriptions. The spokesperson: – More importantly, the medicines were prescribed both for women and for men.

The 39-year-old was detained during another visit to a pharmacy. The police officer:

The suspect gave the pharmacist the prescription code and PESEL number. This time, the prescription had been issued in the name of a woman from Lubań County.

When they detained her, police officers secured notes containing further PESEL numbers and codes for filling prescriptions. At the woman’s home, they secured additional pieces of paper with data needed to fill prescriptions, as well as a box containing partially used blister packs of various types of psychotropic tablets.

The suspect was charged with a total of 14 offenses. All of them concern the past three months.

The officers:

The proceedings will also establish how the woman came into possession of other people’s data. Extorting a false certification through deceit is punishable by up to 3 years in prison.
