– In recent days, the Złotoryja police unit received three reports from residents of the county stating that they had noticed a corroded object in a field, probably unexploded ordnance from wartime – reports aspirant Dominika Kwakszys, press officer of the KPP in Złotoryja. – The police immediately informed a specialist bomb-disposal patrol about the reports received. Until it arrived, Złotoryja police officers secured the locations where the dangerous finds were located.
She adds: – The bomb-disposal patrol from Bolesławiec secured the unexploded ordnance and transported it to a training ground for neutralization.
The officers warn:
Beware of unexploded ordnance, it can be deadly! Remnants from wartime, despite spending many years deep underground, may still pose a serious threat to people's safety. Remember that such a find must not be touched or moved under any circumstances, because any interference with it could cause an explosion and, consequently, bodily injury or even death to anyone nearby!
If any unexploded ordnance or ammunition is found, the Police must be notified immediately. Until officers arrive, the area should be secured and other people unaware of the danger must be prevented from putting themselves at risk.
