On Tuesday, 18 January, Bolesławiec police apprehended a 38-year-old resident of Zgorzelec suspected of trading in illegal tobacco. The man ran a shop in Bolesławiec where he sold both legal cigarettes and tobacco products of unknown origin. In the 38-year-old’s shop, officers found 41 packs of cigarettes and half a kilogram of tobacco without Polish excise markings.
Police are clarifying the circumstances of the case. According to the officers’ findings, the illegal tobacco came from across the eastern border. The 38-year-old faces up to 3 years in prison.
