For some time, criminal investigators had been conducting operational activities aimed at apprehending the perpetrator of a series of cable thefts from technical pits in Wałbrzych. The thief acted deliberately, taking cables with a total length of nearly 200 metres, which caused not only significant material losses but also disruptions to the operation of technical infrastructure. The value of the damage exceeded PLN 24,000. After painstaking investigative work, officers identified and arrested the 34-year-old man, who confessed to the crimes.

During the proceedings, it emerged that this was not the man’s only offence. Officers from Wałbrzych’s “second” police station had been looking for him in connection with a break-in at his father’s house, which took place in mid-September this year on Niepodległości Street. During the offence, the accused took household appliances and audio-video equipment worth a total of PLN 8,500. Police recovered some of the stolen property, including an induction hob and an oven. The break-in further added to the offender’s criminal record, as he had already had previous run-ins with the justice system.

Further offences committed by the arrested man came to light during the subsequent investigation. Having the login details for his former partner’s bank account, the man repeatedly generated BLIK codes, which he then used to withdraw money from ATMs. He stole PLN 400 in this way. His former partner reported the matter to the police, and the collected evidence enabled officers to bring additional charges against the man concerning thefts involving break-ins.

The 34-year-old man, responsible for numerous offences, including cable thefts and break-ins, was arrested thanks to the intensive work of Wałbrzych officers. The officers’ actions confirmed that his criminal activity involved not only material damage but also personal harm inflicted on people close to him. The man will now appear before a court, where he will have to answer for all the acts of which he is accused. Under the Criminal Code, theft and theft involving break-ins carry a sentence of up to 10 years in prison.
