As we read on the Bolesławiec City Hall website:
Dear women residents, dear men residents of Bolesławiec,
the situation related to the water level in the Bóbr River is gradually improving and gives us hope for further stabilization of the situation in the city. The persistent sense of danger, along with the various fears and concerns associated with it, is slowly passing. Cleanup and repair work, as well as damage assessment, are underway in the flooded homes and businesses. However, it can already be stated today that Bolesławiec and its residents defended themselves against the great flood in most parts of the city. We had no fatalities, no one suffered a serious accident as a result of the flood, and the water did not carry away our homes.I would like to sincerely thank everyone who became involved in the effort to save the residents and the city from the effects of the flood. Hundreds of female and male volunteers deserve recognition for their readiness to provide assistance and their solidarity in extreme conditions. Your support and immediate action were crucial during these difficult moments.
I thank the residents, volunteers, councillors of the Bolesławiec City Council and Bolesławiec County Council, as well as representatives of the Fire Service, Police, Municipal Police, soldiers of the 23rd ŚPA, medical services, and the employees and management boards of the companies – MZGK Bolesławiec, PWiK Bolesławiec, ZEC Bolesławiec, MZK Bolesławiec, TBS, employees of Bolesławiec City Hall together with employees of its organizational units, and employees of the County Office together with employees of its organizational units. I thank individual entrepreneurs, companies, associations, organizations, and the services of the Municipal and County Crisis Management Teams. I realize that it is impossible to name everyone. I extend special thanks to the youngest residents of Bolesławiec – female and male scouts – and to the young people. You were magnificent! The cooperation and actions of everyone involved in fighting the flood made it possible to manage the situation effectively and minimize the effects of the disaster caused by the water.
Detailed data on the effects of the flood will be presented to you, but already today we can be proud of the women and men of Bolesławiec.
Yours sincerely
President of Bolesławiec
Piotr Roman
