The tragedy occurred on September 3. – Before 1:00 p.m., the duty officer at the Police Station in Bogatynia was notified of a road accident that occurred on provincial road number 352 – reports Superintendent Agnieszka Goguł, press officer for the District Police Commander in Zgorzelec. – Emergency services and police officers from the local station were immediately dispatched to the scene.
At the scene – under the supervision of a prosecutor – worked police officers from Bogatynia, a forensic technician from Zgorzelec, and an expert in the reconstruction of road accidents. The spokesperson said: – According to the findings, the 78-year-old German citizen, driving a Ford, moved into the opposite lane for reasons that are currently unknown and collided head-on with a Mercedes truck.
The foreign national was transported to hospital. Unfortunately, he died as a result of his injuries.
The police and prosecutor’s office are establishing the causes and circumstances of the incident.
