A resident of Kruszyn, Maciej Śliwa, took on the challenge of completing the grueling event—a triathlon over the triple Ironman distance. This means, respectively: 11.4 km of swimming, 540 km of cycling and 126.6 km of running.

Our representative completed the event in an excellent time of 40 hours and 26 minutes, finishing second overall. The event, just as a year ago, took place in Bolesławiec in Łódź Voivodeship, with approximately 40 competitors taking part.

On Friday, August 30, precisely at 9:00 a.m., the competitors began the challenge on the course. The athletes had to complete 15 laps while swimming in the lake. Our fellow resident covered this distance in 4 hours and 28 minutes. Cycling then took him 19 hours and 3 minutes; that was enough to cover 540 km over 66 laps.

The culmination and final discipline was running, which took Maciej 16 hours and 25 minutes over a distance of 126.6 km and 46 laps. Covering such a distance requires support from people who prepare and provide food and drinks. This was especially important because the competitor completed the entire distance continuously, without sleep or rest. Support was provided by members of Maciej’s immediate family: Karolina, Krzysztof and Michał.

Maciej:

Consistent and systematic training is the key to success. Without proper motivation and physical preparation, completing such an event is impossible. A dozen or sometimes several dozen hours of training per week, hundreds of kilometers ridden. This is ultratriathlon. However, during events like these, the support team plays a role equal to that of the competitor, if not more important! Thank you for your support and for fulfilling my food cravings

The event was organized by Tower Triathlon. We congratulate our representative on this achievement and wish him further successes.
