The annual organisation of the harvest festival in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and throughout Poland is a unique way to preserve an old Polish tradition, express gratitude for the harvest and crops, and appreciate the hard work and commitment of farmers to improving the quality of life in rural areas. It is also an opportunity for local communities to come together. This year’s Provincial Harvest Festival will be held on Saturday, 7 September, in Małowice, in Wińsko municipality.
- Dear residents of Lower Silesia, during the harvest festival we can admire the symbol of this event – beautiful harvest wreaths. They are made from crops that provide the food that reaches our tables. The harvest festival is a unique opportunity to thank all Lower Silesian farmers for the effort they put into their work. At the beginning of September, most of us have already finished the harvest, so it is the perfect time to celebrate, have fun, try local products and, above all, give thanks for this year’s crops – says Paweł Gancarz, Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The ceremonial harvest festival Mass will begin at 12:00 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Małowice. After the Mass, at 13:15, the harvest procession will proceed to the sports field, where the official opening of the event will take place at 13:45.
- The Provincial Harvest Festival is a time to express gratitude for this year’s crops and honour the farmers who, throughout the year, have devoted themselves fully to caring for our fields and crops. On 7 September, we will meet in Wińsko municipality to joyfully give thanks for the fruits of their work. Numerous attractions await you, including a competition for the most beautiful harvest wreath and a fair full of local flavours – says Natalia Gołąb, Member of the Board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The harvest festival programme includes, among other things, a bread ceremony, the bread-sharing ritual and a competition for the most beautiful harvest wreath. All event participants will be able to sample delicacies at the Local Product Fair. Inflatable attractions and an amusement park will be set up for the youngest visitors.
- The Provincial Harvest Festival is a celebration for all residents of Lower Silesia, but above all it is a time to thank farmers, fruit growers and gardeners. Let us celebrate this great Polish tradition together! As is customary during the harvest festival, we will present distinctions. This year they will be “Meritorious for Agriculture” and “Meritorious for Wińsko Municipality” – says Michał Rado, Deputy Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
After the official part, artistic performances will begin at 16:15. The White Diamonds and Chór Harfa groups will perform, as will Martyna Plewa. At 18:00, the first star of the harvest festival evening, Czadoman, will take the stage. At 20:00, Sławomir will invite the audience to sing along. The event will conclude with a dance party featuring a DJ.
