On Saturday, around midnight, officers from the Police Station in Dobroszyce (Oleśnica County), while patrolling the streets, noticed a vehicle in motion that had damage possibly resulting from a road incident. – After stopping it for inspection, they began speaking with the driver and detected a strong smell of alcohol – reports Asp. Sgt. Monika Kaleta from the Wrocław Provincial Police Headquarters.
She adds: – The officers checked the man’s sobriety, and the result was close to 4 per mille. During the inspection, the police system indicated that the 42-year-old had previously had his driving licence revoked for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
That was not the end of it. The policewoman says: – During their conversation with the driver, the officers heard that the man was returning from a harvest festival, where he had drunk five beers and 100 ml of vodka. He did not feel like walking because it was too far. While driving, he hit and damaged a power pole.
The officers conclude:
Thanks to the police officers’ quick reaction, a tragedy was avoided, and the driver will now answer for committing a crime and two offences. Let us remember the one rule: “IF YOU DRINK, DON’T DRIVE”.
