Today, before 3:00 p.m., firefighters received a report that there was a snake on a property in Osiecznica.
The snake was caught, relocated and released in the forest. It turned out to be a grass snake.
The grass snake is a species of non-venomous snake found throughout Europe. It grows up to 1.5 meters long.
The reptile's distinctive feature is its yellow spots.
As we read in Wikipedia:
The grass snake owes its Polish name to the characteristic yellowish spots “behind the temples.” These spots are very distinct, making it easy to identify this non-venomous species, which is harmless to humans; they are surrounded by black borders. Its body coloration varies, usually being gray-green or brownish. Its creamy-white belly is covered with irregular black spots shaped somewhat like squares
