As reported by the Legnica police, last Friday the extremely irresponsible driver was charged, among other things, with causing a direct risk of a disaster in land traffic:
The crime carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.

The incident occurred on August 21. – At around 6:30 p.m., the duty officer at the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica received a report about the apprehension of an intoxicated truck driver. Police officers were immediately dispatched to the 97th kilometre of the A4 motorway, in the direction of Wrocław – said at the time Police Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters.
She added:
It was established at the scene that the driver of a DAF truck was moving from the right edge of the road to the left edge.
The 44-year-old, driving across the entire width of the road, hit an energy-absorbing barrier located at the 87th kilometre of the A4. The spokesperson said: – One of the drivers, seeing the entire incident and the danger caused by the truck driver’s behaviour, decided to stop him.
When the DAF driver stopped in the emergency lane, the witness ran up to him and pulled the keys from the ignition.
It turned out that a 44-year-old man from Lublin Voivodeship was sitting behind the wheel of the truck; he was completely drunk, with 3‰ of alcohol in his exhaled breath.
The extremely irresponsible man from Lublin was detained and placed in a police cell.
