During the fourth meeting of the City Council, held on 29 December, mayor Piotr Roman presented councillors with a proposal to introduce a paid parking zone at Piłsudskiego Square in Bolesławiec. “I have always been opposed to paid car parks, even though solutions of this kind have already been introduced in towns smaller than ours, such as Lubań and Złotoryja,” Roman stressed. “It is becoming increasingly clear, however, that there are places in Bolesławiec that should be used on a rotating basis. These include, among others, car parks beside banks and important institutions. At present, they are occupied by cars that remain there all day because it is more convenient for their owners.
Czy parking przy pl. Piłsudskiego powinien być płatny?
Parking at Piłsudskiego Square would be paid only during office hours. “Those who wanted to go to the cinema or the International Ceramics Centre in the afternoon could park there free of charge,” Piotr Roman explained. “Our intention is to ensure that people who have business to take care of can park their cars without difficulty near the office.
The mayor also recalled that the city plans to create a central car park on the site of the Eastern Railway Station. “We must give Bolesławiec residents the opportunity to park for free so that paid parking zones can be introduced with as little conflict as possible,” Roman noted. “I realise that this will be a problem for officials, but they will have to deal with it. Besides, if an official parks at the Eastern Railway Station and walks the five-minute route, they will get some fresh air and work better,” he added half-jokingly.
It is not yet known when the paid parking zone at Piłsudskiego Square will be introduced. We will return to the matter.
