Manufaktura w Bolesławcu is renowned for its unique ceramics decorated using the traditional stamping method. The distinctive cobalt patterns, which are a hallmark of the manufactory, refer to the history, nature and traditions of this region. Together with Canyon, the company decided to combine this tradition with an thoroughly modern gravel bicycle.

Canyon is one of the global leaders in the bicycle industry, enjoying a well-deserved reputation for innovation and the highest standards of design and quality. The brand also stands out for its deep passion for craftsmanship and artistic interpretations.

The two companies joined forces to create something entirely new.

A cobalt pattern on the frame

As part of the partnership project, the frame of the Canyon Grail SLX became a canvas for unique, hand-painted patterns inspired by Bolesławiec-style stamps. The cobalt dots characteristic of the ceramics produced at Manufaktura now decorate the bicycle frame, creating a unique combination of tradition and modernity. This is not just design—it is history speaking through patterns.

The idea for this unique collaboration came from Mariusz Lickiewicz of United Colours of Cycling, an organizer of gravel events and a local promoter of Bolesławiec’s heritage.

“The idea came to me two years ago. I presented it to the guys at Canyon, and it turned out it might work. After the initial design was prepared, the frame and fork were sent to Manufaktura w Bolesławcu, one of the largest producers of traditional ceramics. The components were decorated in almost exactly the same way as their ceramic plates and mugs,” says Mariusz Lickiewicz, United Colours of Cycling.

Where can the bicycle be seen?

The vehicle can be viewed during the Ceramics Festival at the Museum of Ceramics on Zgorzelecka Street in Bolesławiec. It is displayed by the building’s main entrance.
