17-Year-Old Son Killed His Father with a Knife. Teenager Could Face Life Imprisonment

The Jelenia Góra District Prosecutor’s Office on the case:

(…) On August 13, 2024, the Lwówek Śląski District Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the case against 17-year-old Adam W., suspected of murder.

The preliminary findings of the investigation indicate that on August 12, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m., in Gryfów Śląski, the station owner’s son, Adam W., came to the office of the vehicle inspection station on Wojska Polskiego Street and suddenly attacked his father while holding a kitchen knife with a blade approximately 20 cm long, stabbing him in the back. The injured man, defending himself, attempted to take the knife away from him. While struggling, the two men moved to the area in front of the office building. Adam W. continued stabbing the injured man in various parts of his body, and when his father fell to the ground, he stabbed him in the abdomen. The injured man died as a result of his injuries.

It adds:

When officers from the Lwówek Śląski County Police Headquarters arrived at the scene, the suspect fled home. There, he barricaded himself inside, and the door had to be forcibly breached in order to detain him. At the time of his arrest, he was behaving calmly.

During the procedural activities, the prosecutor inspected the scene, securing traces and evidence, including recordings from surveillance cameras.

What happens next?

Adam W. was detained and placed in the Police Detention Room. Today, he will be brought before the Lwówek Śląski District Prosecutor’s Office, where he will be charged with murder, for which he could face life imprisonment.

The prosecutor’s office also announced that it would submit a request to the court for W.’s temporary detention.

Investigators: – The investigation’s findings indicate that the suspect had previously undergone psychiatric and addiction treatment. However, he had not previously been convicted.

The tragedy occurred on Monday afternoon in Gryfów Śląski, on the premises of one of the companies. As reported by lwowecki.info:

The attacker was detained. Police and prosecutors are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident.
