The Koleje Dolnośląskie seaside train debuted in June 2023. In its first season, it covered the Wrocław–Świnoujście route in five and a half hours. The connection proved to be a major success. During last year’s summer holidays, Koleje Dolnośląskie trains carried more than 7,000 passengers on this route. Everything indicates that this year’s season will be even better, as the route is enjoying extraordinary popularity.
The inaugural connection and immediately sold out
By 28 July, six pairs of connections had been operated between the capital of Lower Silesia and the seaside resorts. Since tickets for the inaugural train to Świnoujście sold out rapidly, a decision was made to run a double trainset. Thus, since the last weekend of June, double trainsets capable of carrying up to 500 passengers have been heading for the Baltic.
– Almost 3,700 passengers had used KD Premium Nadmorski by the last weekend of July. This figure shows that the idea of launching this connection has worked, and many people who use Koleje Dolnośląskie services on a daily basis chose the train instead of the car, also travelling by train for their holidays – says Damian Stawikowski, president of Koleje Dolnośląskie.
Just over five hours and we are in Świnoujście
It is worth noting that KD Premium Nadmorski is the fastest rail option for travelling from Wrocław to Świnoujście.
– We are very pleased that the development of Poland’s best regional rail operator is also moving towards operating holiday connections expected by the residents of Lower Silesia – says Michał Rado, deputy marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship responsible for railways.
KD Premium Nadmorski trains depart from Wrocław Główny every Saturday during the summer holidays at 6:44 a.m., and from Świnoujście every Sunday at 2:48 p.m. In addition, on 15 August, Polish Armed Forces Day, KD trains will run in both directions. The final connection from Świnoujście to Wrocław will depart on 1 September.
