Today at 5:00 p.m., exactly when the insurgents began fighting the German occupier in 1944, warning sirens sounded throughout the country. It was a moving and symbolic gesture of remembrance, intended to pay tribute to all those who fought and gave their lives for freedom.

Bolesławiec, like many other cities in Poland, also joined in commemorating this event. At 5:00 p.m., residents gathered in front of the Polish Underground State anchor at Kubika Street. The ceremony, which began with the sounding of sirens, was attended by scouts, soldiers of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, local government authorities and delegations from various institutions.

August 1 is a time for reflection and remembrance of the heroes of those days. On this day, it is worth pausing for a moment, hearing the sound of the sirens and remembering the heroism and determination of the people who fought for the freedom of their homeland. Commemorations of the uprising are an opportunity to preserve memory together and cultivate national identity.
