On Friday after 9 p.m., officers from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec received a report that a man was standing on a bridge over the Bóbr River, and that his behaviour indicated that his life might be at risk. – The information came from a passer-by who noticed a worrying situation – explains aspirant staff officer Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters. – The duty officer immediately sent a patrol to the scene.

The police officers saw the man from a distance. He was standing on the railing and holding on to a lamppost with only one hand. Because of the strong gusts of wind and darkness, the officers decided to intervene quickly and by surprise. The effective action allowed them to pull the man down from the railing. He repeatedly said that the officers had prevented him from jumping.

An emergency medical team was called to the scene and took the Bolesławiec resident to a specialist hospital.

The police remind people where to seek help in a crisis situation:

The officers say: – We urge everyone to remain vigilant and respond when we notice that someone around us may be in a crisis situation. Let us not disregard any signs that someone is unable to cope with a difficult situation in life; let us offer support and help in a crisis.
