On Monday, 1 July, officers across Poland conducted intensified preventive and enforcement activities under the name “Speed”. Traffic police checked the speed at which drivers were travelling on roads where different speed limits apply.
Officers from the Traffic Division of the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters recorded a total of 36 offences. In three cases, drivers lost their driving licences for a period of three months because they exceeded the speed limit in a built-up area by more than 50 km/h.
Two residents of Bolesławiec were driving at more than 100 km/h where the limit was 50 km/h. A driver who lives outside Poland on a daily basis exceeded the speed limit by 59 km/h. All three were fined and received penalty points.
Excessive speed is the cause of many accidents, which is why police officers remind drivers to observe speed limits and adjust their speed to the prevailing road conditions.
