Zakład Energetyki Cieplnej Sp. z o.o. in Bolesławiec began carrying out, during the summer, a series of investment projects included in the 2024 Technical and Economic Plan.

In accordance with the 2024 Technical and Economic Plan, the company commissioned the preparation of complete design documentation for the modernization of the district heating main on Wróblewskiego Street in Bolesławiec (including the construction and detailed designs, cost estimate, environmental decision and other documents) by November 2024. The modernization involves eliminating the above-ground network and moving it underground.

The company informed the public through the mass media in April 2024 that the project would begin that year, also publishing relevant information on its website. The project is a long-term process, and preparations for the investment were preceded in previous years by terminating companies’ contracts for advertisements located near the heating pipeline route and removing trees that posed a risk of damaging the network.

The next stage, after receiving the complete documentation, will be arranging the investment financing and selecting a contractor. The works are expected to be carried out in 2025. The completed investment will make it possible to optimize the network diameters, improve thermal insulation, deliver financial benefits and improve the appearance of this part of the city.

The district heating main on Wróblewskiego Street is in good condition, heat transmission takes place without failures, and the steel used to build the pipeline in the 1970s is characterized by a very long service life. ZEC’s heating network is continuously monitored, including through a remote network leak-control system.

Another investment being carried out by ZEC this year is connecting the PKS office building in Bolesławiec on Modłowa Street and the first of three residential high-rise buildings on Staroszkolna Street in Bolesławiec to the district heating network.

Complete design documentation is also being prepared for connecting the building of the State Fire Service in Bolesławiec, at its new location on Ekonomiczna Street, to the district heating network.

As part of improving protection against a possible cyberattack, an independent fiber-optic network is being built at the company’s premises on Gałczyńskiego Street to support boiler operations. Work is also under way on the first stage of a photovoltaic installation with heat storage, intended to supply the internal lighting. In the next stage, an installation will be built to serve the central heating plant.

Thanks to the ZEC technical department employees, who have highly specialized skills and extensive experience, the company has begun renovating the feed hoppers of the coal bunkers, using highly durable stainless materials whose service life is many times longer than that of new devices of this type.

Carrying out the renovation using the company’s own resources will not cause interruptions in the supply of domestic hot water to the company’s customers and will significantly improve the company’s finances, generating substantial savings (replacing the devices with new ones would cost approximately several hundred thousand zlotys).

ZEC would like to thank our customers for their cooperation and for all the information they have provided, which is helpful in the company’s operations. Information about the company’s activities is published on the company’s website: www.zec.boleslawiec.pl
