Police officers from Legnica County were notified of a rather unusual situation involving one of the residents of Chojnów. – When they arrived at the scene, it turned out that a 32-year-old resident of the town had burst into a grocery store in Chojnów and, threatening the shop assistant, taken two bottles of alcohol and… chewing gum from the shelf, then fled – reports asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

She adds: – However, when he ran out of the store with the stolen goods, he failed to exercise due caution and ran into the roadway directly in front of a moving vehicle.

The man was taken to hospital and then, after receiving medical assistance, handed over to police officers and placed in police custody. The spokesperson said: – The Chojnów resident was intoxicated at the time of the incident, with more than 2‰ alcohol in his system. The 32-year-old is known to local police for crimes committed in the past; he has previously served a prison sentence for robbery.

She concludes: – We remind you that, under the provisions of the Criminal Code, robbery is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
