The incident occurred on June 10 in Lubin. As reported by the Wrocław branch of TVP

At the intersection of Jana Pawła II and Krupińskiego streets, the driver of a Porsche rear-ended a Mercedes stopped at a traffic light. The perpetrator ultimately drove away. However, the injured party smelled alcohol on the Porsche driver and called the police.

The perpetrator, the mayor of Chocianów, Tomasz K., was arrested at his place of residence. According to the Wrocław outlet, at the time of his arrest he threatened and insulted the officers. He also refused to undergo a breath test. He was therefore taken to hospital, where his blood was drawn.

The result? 2.6 promille.

Radio Wrocław, in turn, reports that the local government official, who had governed Chocianów since 2018, faced two charges: driving under the influence of alcohol and insulting and threatening officers:Radio Wrocław

Each of the offenses carries a sentence of three years in prison. If a court convicts him, Tomasz K. may have to say goodbye to his position as mayor of Chocianów. His car, like his driving licence, has already been seized by the police.
