Mateusz Grobelny is a visual artist with broad interests. He is a sculptor-ceramicist, kiln designer and stylist. His show “Lace War” was presented at BOK-MCC at the beginning of the year. The artist came to Bolesławiec every year during the Ceramic Festival. He presented his kilns in the Market Square. Several versions of “Aquarium of Fire” and, last year, “Arcades of Fire” and “The Wreck of the Extinguished Sun.” Since November, he has had his own studio at the Bolesławiec Cultural Center-International Ceramics Center. During the studio’s opening, films by Michał Szwed presenting the artist’s work were shown.
One of Mateusz Grobelny’s projects will be to repeat the “Lace War” fashion show. The artist wants to prepare the models well for the performance. The girls will learn how to present the designer’s outfits on themselves. “We have dance studios at BOK-MCC where the models will be able to practice walking the runway,” says Mateusz. “I would like to prepare them well. I am planning the show for January.”
The artist’s studio already has its first sculpture students. “I have several adult women who want to try their hand at working with clay, as well as two students preparing for art universities. This bodes well for the future,” says the artist. Mateusz Grobelny plans to invite artists from the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław and bring this community together with Bolesławiec.
