Former Bolesławiec councillor and mayoral candidate Bogusław N. went to Jelenia Góra on Wednesday with a group of Bolesławiec residents for a meeting with Janusz Palikot. A large group of invited guests was present. Parked cars blocked the road, and the Municipal Police were called. The officers entered the meeting and asked all drivers to remove their cars from places where parking was prohibited. Some people moved their vehicles, while Bogusław N. got into an argument with the officers.
Municipal police officers from Jelenia Góra claim that N. was aggressive and insulted them. Reportedly, when he began manoeuvring his car in an attempt to leave the place where he had parked incorrectly, he drove over an officer’s foot. The officer lost his balance, fell and hit his head. An ambulance was therefore called and took the injured man to hospital.
The account given by Przemysław Moszczyński, who accompanied Bogusław N., is different, however. The man says that N. merely touched the officer, who was standing too close to the manoeuvring car. When the ambulance arrived, according to Moszczyński, the officer simulated an injury like a player on a sports field.
“The officers wanted to check my identity. When I saw that tow trucks had been brought in, I got into the car and wanted to move it. However, I could not get out of the snowdrift. Two passers-by approached my car and began pushing it. The car moved about half a metre. The officer then fell, but I know that from the surveillance footage, because when I was in the car, I did not see anyone standing beside it. The police tested me with a breathalyser; the result was zero, zero. Then they went with me to view the surveillance footage. I received two fines: for improper parking and for a collision, because according to the police I should have got out of the car and carefully checked before reversing that I would not hit anything. When it turned out at the hospital that the officer was not injured, the police did not detain me. The whole matter smells like a provocation,” Bogusław N.
told us.The duty officer at the Jelenia Góra Municipal Police told us that an X-ray of his colleague’s foot had indeed shown no damage. According to the officer, the foot was protected by a thick shoe and a layer of snow. The duty officer also informed us that the injured colleague was limping slightly and would not see his own doctor until Monday.
The police spokesperson in Jelenia Góra says she knows nothing about the incident and that, if it had been serious, she would have known about it. She will investigate the matter only on Monday. For now, the Municipal Police will not make the surveillance recording available to the media. It will probably issue an official statement on Monday.
The entire matter was described by a local portal from Jelenia Góra, and its account is unfavourable to Bogusław N.
