As reported by the Wrocław branch of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways:

We are currently preparing the documentation for the construction of more than 450 km of roads, including the S5 and S8 expressways, the A4 motorway and city bypasses.

What will be done on the A4?

The A4 motorway, along an approximately 36-km section between Krzyżowa and Legnica, will be expanded along its existing route, and each carriageway will have three traffic lanes and a hard shoulder. The operator: – In some places, this will involve constructing a new carriageway parallel to the existing one, while in others, expanding the existing carriageways. In October 2023, we submitted two applications for environmental decisions (DŚU).

And adds:

In November 2023, we identified the A4 expansion variant between Legnica and Wrocław. The minutes of the Investment Project Assessment Committee (KOPI) recommended routing the A4 motorway according to variant W1. The next step will be to submit an application for an environmental decision.

What about the A18?

Road officials: – This is the last, less-than-four-kilometre section of the A18 between Olszyna and Krzyżowa, which, like the remaining sections, will be adapted to the currently applicable technical parameters. This will improve road traffic safety. Hard shoulders 3 m wide will be built on both sides of the motorway. We are currently awaiting the decision on the road investment permit (ZRID) to become final, which is planned for the first half of 2024.
