On May 20, at around 5:30 p.m., police officers at the intersection of Złotnicza and Wincentego Pola streets in Jelenia Góra noticed a Citroën vehicle whose driver failed to obey the traffic lights and ran a red light.

– The officers decided to stop him for a roadside check, switched on their light and sound signals, and signaled for him to stop. However, he did not respond; instead, he accelerated and began to flee – reports Asp. Aleksandra Pieprzycka of the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław. – The driver’s reckless driving involved a series of traffic offenses. On Przeskok Street, he hit a wall, then abandoned the vehicle and began fleeing on foot. He was detained a short while later.

The driver turned out to be a 36-year-old resident of Środa County. During the proceedings, it came to light that the man was under the influence of alcohol. He was also wanted to serve a six-month prison sentence and was wanted in connection with other legal proceedings.

The outcome? Officers:

The 36-year-old was detained in police custody to sober up and for further proceedings. He will now answer for his actions before the court and could face up to five years in prison. Once the proceedings are completed, he will be placed in a remand prison to serve the imposed prison sentence.
